Primary Challenges

Posted by Mr. Ellsworth Toohey in ,

The East Ward has a good race going on tomorrow on the D side. Please consider Tish Jones for Borough Council. She has the experience. This is not a joke . . . . . no seriously . . . . . .I mean it.

On the Republican ballot for the county races there are two contests to look for. Alan Randzin is the current Treasurer and has done an incredible job streamlining the office. He has been a the kind of public servant we all hope to get elected. For Clerk of Courts, Phoenixville's own Teena Peters has modernized an office that gets little attention outside of the legal community. She is also very active within our own community.

I love contested primaries, but only when there are two qualified candidates. In the case of these two races, the incumbents are the top of the heap and deserve to go back to continue the great job they have done.

Didn't Tish Jones remove herself from the race?

She is still listed on the Democrats website. I have no idea whether she is on the ballot or not but she should at least be a write in for anyone that loves this Borough.. . . . Honestly. . . . Really . . . .I am not kidding.

As I recall, Tish had problems staying awake and following what was happening on the floor.

Also, from what I have gathered over the past years while she was on council, she didn't answer very many, in some cases none, of the e-mails from her constituents.

Is/was she really qualified to represent the East Ward?

Not in my estimation.

I think you only want her to win to help your party.

I think that it comes down to how much of a change you think the Council needs. If another Democrat gets elected in my lifetime, that will be to many. Gill, Ciruelos, Wagner and Speck are a cancer on this Council and too this Borough. Give the control back to the Republicans. As for Tish, she tried to stay awake but the last commenter was right, I would prefer it to be an easy race.

Better to have 5 sleeping Dems on council thah 5 awake. With one proposing to marry the LIEBERRY and PARK and another who still doesn't know proper procedure when it comes to calling for votes maybe if they're all nodded off the R's can pass something with some substance instead of these assinine votes of late.LOL

I'm a registered Democrat and I am not voting for either council candidate.

I will write in Dave Gautreau's name.

I heard Tish did try to remove herself from the ballot but it was too late.

She is on there.

Let's see how this one plays out.

Well, looks like your endorsement is the kiss of death in the County GOP primary ;-)

It sucks that Teena lost. GOP voters really screwed the pooch on that one. And Alan may have shot himself in the foot with that negative campaign piece right before the election. But the election of Ann Duke as Treasurer nominee shouldn't be too great a tragedy. She has promised me, in person, to at least provide whatever records I want without paperwork hassles.

And it looks like Dave Gautreau will have to beat an unknown rather than Tish. I haven't talked to a single soul-- Republican or Democrat-- who doesn't agree that Dave is the best candidate in the East Ward, so I don't think it will matter much.

If he's kind, he will continue sharing some of that political mojo with my buddy Marc Reber, running to beat King Henry Wagner in the Middle Ward.

Stick a fork in Wagner. He's done.

Orchestrating the worst majority on council in history has it's pitfalls.

Bye-bye Henry.
