It is really hard to believe that a national political campaign in the 21st century could be so blind? bold? stupid? This is the age of the "internets" with all those tubes and stuff. Check the Google. It knows all.
The choice of Sarah Palin is a good example of making political choices based on an inflated sense of your own intelligence compared to that of the electorate. Palin is a good soldier in the social conservative movement but with no experience. This is going to be a trainwreck. When you get to announce to the Country that your 17 year old kid is pregnant and unmarried within 72 hours of announcing that you will run for Vice President, that is one thing. When you are a social conservative that believe in abstinence only education, that is another. A telling line from the McCain campaign was that they respect the choice she is making to keep the child. The key word being choice and the fact that if this ticket(and a bunch of down ticket candidates) is elected they will push to end that choice.
Answer these two questions:
1) Is abstinence only sex education and reproductive health/contraception still an issue that the Republican ticket can still discuss with the whole nation or just those targeted town hall meetings with all their "friendly" constituents?
2) Will anyone be able to find a local Republican candidate that will be willing to back this ticket and the womens issues it surely brings up?
