Perhaps it is time to take a step back from attacking every personality in the Borough about the issue of the CDC contract and start actually analyzing some of the important aspects of the Borough's revitalization efforts. It is a bit sad that people have the time to criticize the critics about the lack of facts and yet place no facts in their own postings. Don't harp on Barry for wanting a new 5 year contract worth $625,000. You would do the same thing in his position. Don't harp of Jeff Senley for missing the vote because he was sick. You would have done the same thing in his position. Don't criticize the people that have a negative opinion of some issues or the blogs that give them a platform to speak their mind. Just frame the argument to prove that these people are wrong (if they are actually wrong).
Revitalization has been an agonizing process in Phoenixville. It has led to the influx of new residents with a different mind set from those "old timers". People that have lived here for decades remember some of the hustle and bustle of the Steel Mill days when the downtown was active. They also remember the crash. People that have come to Phoenixville in the past 10 years have only known the abandoned Bridge St. Any businesses on Bridge St looks like progress. Any restaurant is an added bonus. People roaming the downtown district in the evening means that we are hitting the big time. New street lights mean that it will only be a matter of time before we are filming a Lifetime movie in town. The old timers are a bit more skeptical.
Revitalization is a vague term and very subjective. I happen to believe it is more of a mind set than anything else. We need to turn our focus on economic development.
