The Citizens advisory committee for the writing of Phoenixville's new comprehensive plan has been announced. You may recognize the names.
Richard Kunsch
Rob Frees
Lou Beccaria
E. Jean Krack
Barry Cassidy
Tom Carnevale
I can see Carnevale. That is a legitimate pick. If the goal is to plan out the giving away of other peoples money or the begging for public funds, you have the A-Team. If the goal is to have citizens give their input for the future of the Borough, not so much. Do any of these people (aside from Carnevale) live in the Borough? Is this then a citizens committee or a business committee. I think the majority of the people should be voters. The Planning Commission sit in on this process also and they are all residents.
I guess we should be happy that they only put 2 CDC people on the committee.

Does Carnevale still live within the Borough? He house on Gay Street was for sale a while back. Did he sell and move out?
What surprises me is that Barbara Cohen isn't on the list!
What the heck? When, where, and how were these particular people picked, Mr. Toohey? This citizen's advisory group reads like a business luncheon gathering at the country club.
Can you see any new or fresh ideas coming from this group? Why would they be the only people in town with an idea what Phoenixville should look like in the future? No women on that board? No wonder nobody gives a frig anymore. It's just more of the same old, same old. This is not the equitable way to plan the future Phoenixville.
Let's all speak about this at the Sept 8th Borough council meeting. We can organize and focus on the two main problems...monoply of players/ cronism (Cassidy and Krack don't have to be involved in EVERYTHING), and absense of borough residents. Bitching here ends here. We need to take our voices to Borough Hall.
CDC board is not elected.
CDC executive director is not elected.
CDC controls everything.
Live with it.
I believe the Planning Board are members as well and there are four women members.
