A nice informative interview about how Barry thinks and approaches grant funding. I am sure it isn't as convoluted as he describes it. My problem with the projects he describes is the apparent lack of any project management. The North Side Streetscapes program that had a bid opening recently has been a project that was started 3 years ago. It is great that they are getting their street lights but come on. The grass strip that were sodded in have already been destroyed and the streetscape already looks like crap. As for Andre Thorton park, I would rather see the $110,000 grant go toward Reeves Park (a larger and more used park) and have the $60,000 grant go towards the smaller of the parks.
It is great that things are getting done and that someone is explaining it to us. BTW, did Skip disclose that he was a member of the CDC or at least working with the CDC? I really didn't know that was the case until I read the obit.
