Trail may be just months away from reality

We will have to drive 10 miles to access the nearest trail head but at least the County is moving forward with the COMPLETION of a trail project. Does this mean that the County will start moving forward with their portion of the Schuylkill River Trail?

This is a significant trail that the County has let languish in its quest to connect the center of Chester County with itself (as if you could not walk safely from Downingtown to Paoli). Now is the time to finish our part of the trail. A single bike path stretching from Reading to Philadelphia, going right through Phoenixville is a recreational treat we all need. I had posted about the Pottstown section last month and the possiblities that it could bring for Phoenixville.

Perhaps if the Phoenix were not too busy cheerleading for the business community or reporting on the latest resident picked up for shoplifting, we could get some momentum going on this project.

Here is the July 2008 update on the trail. As you can see, Phoenixville has a bunch of segments that it has not touched. The Steel Site still holds the Right of Way for segments of the trail. Walt stole the recreation from us also. Chester County has dropped hte ball on this one. Every other County in the Schuylkill River Heritage Coridoor has some of the work necessary to complete this project. It is time we step up also.

Check out more info on the trail.
