County support for Main Street Programs??

Posted by Mr. Ellsworth Toohey

From Today's Phoenix:

The West Chester Business Improvement District received $10,000 for its Main Streets program.

So Chester County is willing to kick in support for the West Chester Main Street program. Does public financing of these organizations need to come from the municipal level or can the CDC work the phones for State and County grants for the continuation of their services to the community. I realize that the money we are talking about is public money but the economic health of the County and the Commonwealth is a bit better than situation that Phoenixville is facing. I want to see an honest effort by the CDC to fund raise in the next year. With their 5 year contract, there is no incentive for them to actually make an effort to do it but their feet need to be put to the fire.

Remember, though, we were told the five year contract was with the CDC. Not Barry.

So Barry can-- theoretically-- be replaced should that be deemed necessary.
