Grumblings

Posted by Mr. Ellsworth Toohey

I heard that there is a lot of grumblings from the residents of the lower North Side that they got the shaft on the Elm Street Grant. They believe that when the concept was floated to the residents and the questionnaires were passed out, they would be in line for some facade grants. Well, a couple of years later and the streetscapes aren't done and the residents have heard little from the Borough about the rest of the project. I seem to remember that there was talk about facade grants when this was all started but I can't pin down when that was. What I can pin down is that the streetscape was supposed to have actually been completed and not the half assed job that has been completed so far.

Well...they did give us a beautiful BIG sign at the corner of High and Railroad announcing the project. I guess all of the money was spent on constructing that...Andre Thorton Park is looking beautiful for the summer...

The only facade going on here was the story that this was actually going to happen. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.
