A Historical Beating

Posted by Mr. Ellsworth Toohey

Just a reminder that the Holy Ghost Conditional Use hearing for the planning commission will be on June 11th at Borough Hall. Part of the Pa Historic Commissions approval letter to Father Evans stated that if the applicant became aware of any historic feature that was overlooked in the initial application, they are to contact the Commission immediately. Of course, no real assessment of the property was done by Evans and a gloss over analysis was done by the Commonwealth.

Perhaps the Historic Commission would love to get information expanding on the rich history of the Reeves property and how Holy Ghost has been the protector of that history for the last 70+ years.

I would like to think that there is SOME interest in the community in the richness of history found on the grounds of HGC. There were underground railroads with air tunnels that are found on maps today.

I think the authors of the earlier reports sent to the Historical Society should get an A+ in creative writing.

I also wonder what their testimony will be in the court of law?

Hopefully, someone from town and county will step up to the plate and speak out to save this gem in the middle of disappearing green space. Doesn't anyone realize we need "green" to breathe? Concrete and brick doesn't produce oxygen....Hello????The women that spoke at the initial council meeting pleading for just that consideration have since been threatened with ex-communication by Holy Ghost church Bishop demanding "obedience" to their "leaders".Of course, he resides in his climate controlled ivory tower and breathes just fine.
