Another Idea

Perhaps you should consider raising money to actually elect candidates that will vote for your interests. That way $5000 will get you Council and School Board members that will work for you for more than this project. If you gathered the people that support the community garden, Saint Nicholas Brotherhood, and the 2nd ave crew you will have a good sized group.

Logical....however...in my experience, replacing these people one or two at a time just doesn't seem to work. By the time you get to the next one or two, the first ones you helped elect have been corrupted by the system and can no longer be counted on. What we really need is a "do over" and elect an entirely new board/council all at the same time. Those currently serving are welcome to rerun for a position. Unfortunately it will never happen.

I have seen some people lead with out becoming corrupt. I have seen Karen Johns on Council, Bob Tigro on Council, Ken Buckwalter on Council, and Dave G on School board. We need these people and others like them to represent us again.

To: June 28, 2009 8:39 PM.....you may be right BUT......these very few are powerless and very quickly frustrated away. We're left with the dregs who thrive on the power trip without realizing just what their job is, a representative of those who placed you in office. They think that any "vocal minority" doesn't represent the constituency when in fact it does. It represents the constituency who has arrived at an informed decision. The "silent majority" is most often silent because they are uninformed, unopinionated or couldn't care less. Therefore our "representatives" should be responding to those with opinions, not those without. Seems simple enough to me but very few get it right.

Just IMAGINE if Phoenixville had Borough Council Meetings, like the below OJR School Board Meeting???

With all the ways to voice ones opinion in Phoenixville, why don't Phoenixvillians show up for Borough Council Meetings?
