I Am Always Amazed!

The Phoenix always puts a smile on my face. I read the following headline:

Crime numbers steady in E. Pikeland

After 2 days of "Hope" we need to get back to the crime. The headline should really read:

East Pikeland about the Same and Totally Average

It was a useless article. I guess we have stopped covering any issue that has any safe impact on the general public and Godzilla Wright is just going to ravage the small Japanese hamlet that is the front page of the Phoenix.

Hopefully my subscription has run out. The billing has been screwed up from Day One. The several attempts I've made to correct things have been met with fluffy words but no changes, or the famous "The computer is down". I've decided to trash the bills along with other junk mail. I know I've already overpaid on many levels.

In this economy some things have to go. Reading a glorified police report on the front page daily is not something I choose to pay for anymore. Not that I knock the police. They do a wonderful job of protecting our community. I would have liked to read about community events before they happened so I might have attended. I would have liked to hear about some of the positive things going on in our area, other than on Bridge Street. I'm sure there must have been something? I guess that would mean a reporter would have to go out and look for things, rather than sitting at hearings down the street from the office or covering news within a two block area. Ah well...these complaints aren't new news either. What is new is my decision to make achange for the better.

I agree with your statements. I have said before that a couple of columns a week written by locals leaders would go very far in informing the public about what is going on in this town. There needs to be reporting on what will be going on and not just what we missed.

all that said, phoenixville is indeed fortunate to even have a daily newspaper. perhaps, some of the powers that be in town, should sit down with the business manager of the phoenix, and see if they would be interested in getting more local news stories, from resident reporters..it's pretty clear the phoenix is not gonna hire another reporter, and the reason for the Crime reports on the front page, is because it's an easy cut and paste story for the only reporter left
