Smoking in the boys room

Here is the link to the poor air quality schools that USA Today put out. Here is a link to the story. I am assuming that the polution modeling showed that emissions from the plants travel along the Schuylkill and French Creek valleys to pollute this section of Phoenixville schools. It is really an indictment on the air quality of our whole community and we should be more worried about having kids exposed to these pollutants for 24 hrs a day instead of just 8 hrs.

This is an environmental problem and perhaps one that we will be behind the 8-ball. Cromby will not shut down but could be forced to clean up. We will still be in the line for all the emmissions no matter what is pumped out of those smoke stacks.

I don't think that we have become Love Canal but this won't look good for anyone wanting to relocate here. We really need to wait until actual air quality studies are done at these schools before we storm the halls.

We could do much better. We should have taken the suggestion of one of our many third generation business and community leaders and fellow travelers and built that school out by the old Ciba-Geigy site. We could have had an even dozen schools, adding trichlorethylene dry cleaning chemicals to the mix. Sometimes when you have a mix of chemicals, one acts to counteracts the effects of the other. The more chemicals our children are exposed to, the better. If we don't keep up pumping young new residents of Phoenixville with chemicals that inhibit neurological growth and impair brain function, where we come up with tomorrows borough council leaders and those with the level of intelligence to elect and put with their leadership?
