Andre Thorton Park

Posted by Mr. Ellsworth Toohey

A reader commented on the changes to Andre Thorton park. What strikes me as odd is the fact that the Phoenix would give us the working drawings instead of an illustrative plan. I figured out the orientation but without any indication where Main St. is, you could get really lost. I barely remember what the original plan had in it. I know that there was access to the upper park and that most everything else was to be ripped out and replaced. It is a long time coming and I hope we can hurry this along so the Reeves and Reservoir can start.

I would like to know who authorized the changes to the original plan? Any guesses? BC? EJK?

I hope Mr. Thornton is well represented in his hometown. He was a hero to me as a young baseball fan in Ashtabula County, Ohio.

If I'm ever near Phoenixville I will visit the facility, and tell my son of Andre Thornton, the same as my Dad did for me.

p.s. good luck with the local affairs!
