Airing out the Laundry

Posted by Mr. Ellsworth Toohey

I received a wonderful message from an anonymous poster.

My point wasn't that expressing your opinion makes you full of yourself, but rather saying to people that you are courageous for doing so is being full of yourself. That is just ridiculous. Oh, I'm sorry mr foohey, did I strike a nerve because you are both in the "old club". Don't tell me your gonna stick up for her just because she's in the club? I hope not because I thought you had more spunk then that. If anyone else made this statement you would be all over them like fly's on shit.

I am really not sure what the commenter is talking about with the "old club" comment and the striking a nerve comment. I do know that the original comment was pointed towards a post made by Karen Johns on her blog. Since there in no affiliation between the two blogs and I have not read the post on her blog that is being referred to, I have to say that there is no nerve struck nor "old club" defended. While Ms. John's and I have shared common beliefs on some local issues, I would not classify that as a "club".

I appreciate the people that read these blog as much as I appreciate the blogs themselves. They have brought a lot of issues out into the sun and allow for people to vent (some positively and some negatively). What I don't appreciate is the rash of obnoxiously negative comments that are aimed solely at previous commenters or bloggers. I am sure it can be fun to do such things and I may have been guilty of such things in the past but nothing is really being accomplished. Everyone in Phoenixville has an opinion on local issues that are valid and should be heard. As for everyones opinion on other people that frequently comment on these blogs, tell it to you friends or start your own blog.
