I was happy to hear the Councilman Ken Buckwalter's case regarding the removal of compensation for Council members will be heard by the highest court in the Commonwealth. The Pa Supreme Court saw it as a compelling enough case to bring it up in their upcoming session. The real shame is that the last Council and to some degree, this Council did not see that escalating legal fees will eventually drive the cost of their grandstanding to a level where the money saved will be dwarfed by the money lost. They saved less than $18,000 on the compensation cut. Do you think that when the costs of litigation reached that point they would have said "let's cut our loses". Council made a mistake and, once again, we will all pay for it.
